One mark beside every name. A blue seal for a verified author, a plum nib for an author, a teal book for a reader; the only reader who can carry the blue seal is the Booklabria team's own account. Verification asserts identity, not quality; it is granted by staff and can be revoked, and a reader cannot ask for it.

One mark beside every name
Every name on Booklabria carries one small mark that says who is speaking:
- a blue seal with a check: a verified author, or the Booklabria team's own reader account (below);
- a plum pen nib: an author;
- a teal open book: a reader.
It sits beside the name on profiles, Journal entries and posts, comments and reviews, the feed, Authors, the Charts, Circle member lists and search results. Only one mark ever sits beside a name: on the team's own account, once staff have set the seal, it takes the place of the open book. The profile page also says it in words above the name, Author, Pen name or Reader, followed by the genres; the seal has no word of its own there, it is only the mark beside the name.
What the seal means
The verified seal says the profile is operated by the author it names. Identity, not quality, sales or endorsement. An unverified author carries the nib instead. Among readers, the only account that can carry the seal is the Booklabria team's own, which staff set by hand. Beside its name the seal says the account is the team's, and nothing more; every other reader carries the open book.
Getting verified
For an author, verification is granted by staff after a manual review, and it can be revoked (the author is told). There is no self-service path: send it to the team from your author account with something that ties the pen name to you (a publisher page, a retailer author page, an ISBN record naming you). The seal also makes the Circle you host around your book an Official Author Circle.
A reader account cannot be verified on request. The team's own reader account is set by hand by a Booklabria admin, who records a reason; nobody is notified, and it can be taken off the same way.
Someone is pretending to be an author
Impersonation breaks the Community guidelines. Report the profile (Reporting and blocking); if the name is yours, say so in the report.

- Your pen name and public page: Your pen name is your public identity; books, series, campaigns and Journal entries attach to it. Edit its name, bios, avatar, banner, the genres you write, the languages you publish in and external links under Studio, Settings. - Reporting and blocking: Every profile, post, comment, book, review and photo has Report in its menu; a human moderator reviews it. Blocking someone hides you from each other entirely, they are not told, and you can undo it under Settings › Privacy.
