Inviting your readers
For authorsUpdated 2 min read
An author makes reader invite links from Studio › Invite readers. Each link admits as many readers as the author chooses, up to 100, until a day the author picks, up to 90 days out. A reader who arrives through yours is counted as yours.
The short answer
The beta opens by invitation, and authors bring their readers. An author makes invite links: one link admits as many readers as you choose (up to 100), until a day you pick (up to 90 days out). Each reader who uses it gets their own reader account.
Making a link
- Open Studio › Invite readers.
- Fill in How many readers (1 to 100) and Works until (a day within the next 90 days).
- Press Make the link. The new link appears on the page; choose Copy link and send it to your readers, in a newsletter, a post or a message.
The link works until its places are taken or its day ends, whichever comes first.
The limits
- Up to 100 readers a link, for up to 90 days.
- Across your open links there is room for up to 300 readers at once. A link that fills up, expires or is withdrawn frees its places.
- Up to 10 new links in any 24 hours.
If you reach a limit, the page says which one and what to do (a smaller link, withdrawing a link you no longer need, or when the next link frees up).
Your list
Every link you made is listed with how many of its places are used (for example 3 of 10 used), its day, and its state:
- Open: it still has room. You can copy its link, or withdraw it.
- Full: every place is taken; the list shows the last reader who joined.
- Expired or Withdrawn: it no longer opens anything.
Withdrawing a link cannot be undone. Readers who already joined through it keep their accounts, and you can make another link whenever you like.
What a reader does with it
The link opens the account form with the code already in place, and the form says how many places are left and until when; a code alone is typed on the sign-up page. When a link is full or its day has passed, the form says so, and the reader can ask you for a new one. The invite decides the account: it opens a reader account, never an author one. Readers are the people who read you, review you and join your Circles. Readers do not hold invites of their own; only authors bring readers.
To bring another author, write from Help › Contact support; a person answers. Nobody outside the team can make an author invite.
When signup is open
On a deployment where signup is open, nobody needs a code, but a reader who arrives through your link is still counted as yours. The page says which mode it is in.
What counts as yours
A reader who joined on your invitation and finished one of your books counts toward the Brought Readers achievement (see How achievements work).

Related
- The beta, what it is, who gets in, what is free: Booklabria is a closed beta by invitation. Readers never pay; authors have four plans (Author free, Creator $9, Pro $19, Publisher $59 a month, less on a year) but nothing is charged during the beta, and beta authors keep the founding price of Creator and Pro for twelve months from the day their trial starts, and have thirty days of unchanged access when billing opens; ARC files are delivered through protected, expiring links; apps for iOS and Android are on the way; nobody here can give a date.
- Running an ARC campaign: Studio, Campaigns, New campaign walks through the book, dates and reader spots, ideal readers (genres, tropes, languages, regions, requirements), delivery (formats, files, your message) and how to launch (draft, scheduled, or now). Applications gather under Applications with each reader's match and reliability; approve or decline one by one or in batches, and every decision notifies the reader.
- Understanding your Readers page: Studio, Readers answers one question per tab in plain words: Overview (followers, monthly readers, monthly reach), Followers (recent followers and the tastes they chose to make public), Mailing list (your email list and its export history), Journal, Books, Early copies (the campaign funnel) and Letters. Aggregated nightly; no sales figures, nothing faked.
