Who sees what: profile visibility

Settings › Privacy sets your whole profile to public, followers only or private, and your library, reading progress, activity and follower list each on their own. Author pages are public by nature; what an author keeps private is the library and activity.

Under Settings › Privacy › Profile visibility choose Public (anyone, signed in or not), Followers only (the people who follow you) or Private (only you). Your name, handle and photo remain visible so a visitor can tell whose profile it is.
Part by part
Four parts of your profile have their own setting, so a public profile can still keep a private shelf:
- Library: your shelves.
- Reading progress: what you are reading and how far.
- Activity: your Reading Life posts and what you finished.
- Followers and following: the lists.
Reviews and Circles
A review is attached to the book and is shown on the book's page under your name; it is public by nature. What you post inside a Reading Circle is seen by its members; a public Circle can be read by anyone, an unlisted one by anyone with the link, a private one by members only. Authors
An author page is public: readers must be able to find your books. What an author account keeps private is its library, progress and activity, exactly as a reader does.
What is never collected
No advertising data, and no raw IP addresses in analytics. The Privacy policy lists what is stored and why; Download your data shows you all of it.

- Reporting and blocking: Every profile, post, comment, book, review and photo has Report in its menu; a human moderator reviews it. Blocking someone hides you from each other entirely, they are not told, and you can undo it under Settings › Privacy.
- Download your data: Settings › Privacy › Download your data builds a complete copy of your account, free, always; it is ready in a few minutes, kept for 7 days, and each download link lives about 15 minutes. Reader accounts can also export chosen parts as spreadsheet-friendly files.
- Reading Life posts: The composer at the top of Home posts a reading moment to your profile and your followers' feeds (started, finished, progress, a recommendation, a question, a poll and twenty more formats), each with an audience: Public, Followers or Only me. Edit or delete yours from the ⋯ menu.
- Your profile's look: Profile Studio, themes and dark mode: Profile Studio (Settings › Profile › Studio) sets your profile's theme, accent, layout and banner and the order of its modules, with a preview at phone and desktop width; nothing changes for visitors until you publish. Light and dark follow your system.
