Posting in a Reading Circle

The Discussion tab is the conversation; a post has a type (general, chapter chat, checkpoint, theory, character, quote, prompt, announcement, endgame) and follows the Circle's spoiler policy, which can hide posts past your recorded progress. Report and remove work as everywhere.

The Discussion tab
Discussion is the Circle's conversation. Posts have replies (one level), reactions and mentions; a filter shows All activity, Important only or Mentions and replies, and a post's ⋯ menu has Report and, for the people who run the Circle, Remove. The tab refreshes itself every twenty seconds while it is open, so you see what others posted without reloading.
Post types
When you post, choose the post type: General, Chapter chat (about a part of the book), Checkpoint (tied to a point in the plan), Theory, Character, Quote, Prompt, Announcement or Endgame (about the ending). The type tells the spoiler policy where the post belongs.
Spoilers
Every Circle has a spoiler policy, set by the owner:
- Relaxed: no gate; members mind their own spoilers.
- Progress (the default): a post about a part of the book is hidden from members whose recorded progress has not reached it; the composer asks where a post belongs, and the Discussion says Showing the conversation from the point you have reached, with Show everything if you want it all.
- Strict: anything not explicitly marked safe is hidden.
Keep your progress up to date on the book (Shelves and progress) and the gate opens as you read.
House rules
The owner's house rules sit with the Circle's description. The Community guidelines apply in every Circle on top of them; report and block work in a Circle as they do everywhere (Reporting and blocking).

- Content warnings and content levels: Authors tag a book with content warnings from a shared list and a content level; both show on the book page. Anything you asked to avoid is kept out of your recommendations and opens marked where it appears, never silently hidden from search.
