Reading insights
For readersUpdated 1 min read
Insights shows what you read (genres, how you rate, themes you return to, pages where the length is known, when you finished), this year and all time, computed from your own shelves and progress; nothing is shared unless you make a Wrap.
The short answer

What it shows
Insights (in the account menu) reads your own shelves, progress and reviews and shows:
- What you read: genres across your finished books, and the themes you return to.
- How you rate: your ratings by number of stars, the books you rated highest, and the ones finished but not yet rated.
- Along the way: pages, where we know the length; when you finished; series you are working through; authors you met; books you set aside; your advance copies (resolved, on time, set aside, all time).
- Your goals, and milestones.
Switch between this year and all time; Compared with last year shows the change.
Honest numbers
Everything is computed from what you did here; a number we cannot know (the pages of a book without a page count) is left out and said so, never estimated. Nothing on this page is shared with anyone unless you make a Wrap from it: see Wraps.
Authors
Insights is a reader feature. An author account has Studio's analytics about their books instead; their own reading is on their shelves as for any reader.
Where this lives
Related
- Wraps: your month or year, shareable: A Wrap is a page about a reading period (a month, or a year once it has ended) kept as it stood when you made it; it is private until you create a link, the link shows only the sections you keep on and never your advance-copy record, and you can take it down at any time.
- Shelves and progress: Your Library has five shelves (Want to Read, Reading, Completed, Did Not Finish, ARC Reads); a book lives on one at a time. Books you are reading carry a progress percentage; reaching 100 % or tapping Finished moves them to Completed and offers a review.
- Reading goals: Goals tracks what you read against a target you set (books finished, genres explored, a series, one particular book and more) over a period, with optional reminders, on your profile or private; a goal can rest and resume without losing anything. Five at a time.
