Importing your library from Goodreads or StoryGraph

Getting the file

• Goodreads: My Books › Import and export › Export Library.
• StoryGraph: Manage account › Export StoryGraph library.

Either gives you a CSV. Booklabria reads titles, authors, ISBNs, shelves, ratings and dates from it, and from a StoryGraph file its Moods and Pace columns, not reviews or notes. The file may be up to 5 MB.

Importing

1. Open Library › Import.
2. Under Your export (CSV, up to 5 MB), choose the file and start the import.
3. The import appears under Your imports with its source, the number of books, and its state: Waiting, Matching, Done (or Failed, Canceled). While it runs you can Cancel import; afterwards you can Remove it from the list.
4. When it is done, the card shows how many rows were matched, unmatched and skipped.

How rows are matched

Each row is matched to a book here by ISBN first, then by title and author. A matched book lands on the shelf the export named (Want to read, Reading, Read, Did not finish). Your rating stays on the list for you; nothing is posted as a review.

Moods and pace from StoryGraph

A StoryGraph file's Moods and Pace columns come across as your own marks on each book, the same ones you give with How did it feel? (Writing reviews): the moods that are on Booklabria's list of fourteen (up to three) and a pace of slow, medium or fast. A mood Booklabria does not use is left out, and the import card says how many, for example 2 moods we don't use were skipped. A feel you already marked on a book is never replaced by the file's, and a book you already had on a shelf gets its moods and pace too.

Not matched yet

Rows we could not match are listed under Not matched yet, with the shelf they were meant for. You can search for the book by hand (the wider catalog may have it: see Finding books) and shelve it yourself.

Removing an import

Remove takes the import off your list. The books already placed on your shelves stay where they are; nothing on a shelf is deleted by removing the import record.
