Importing your library from Goodreads or StoryGraph

Library › Import takes a Goodreads or StoryGraph CSV export (up to 5 MB), matches each row by ISBN then by title and author, and puts the books on your shelves; ratings stay with you and nothing is posted as a review.
The short answer
Getting the file
- Goodreads: My Books › Import and export › Export Library.
- StoryGraph: Manage account › Export StoryGraph library.
Either gives you a CSV. Booklabria reads titles, authors, ISBNs, shelves, ratings and dates from it, not reviews or notes. The file may be up to 5 MB.
Importing
- Open Library › Import.
- Under Your export (CSV, up to 5 MB), choose the file and start the import.
- The import appears under Your imports with its source, the number of books, and its state: Waiting, Matching, Done (or Failed, Cancelled). While it runs you can Cancel import; afterwards you can Remove it from the list.
- When it is done, the card shows how many rows were matched, unmatched and skipped.
How rows are matched
Each row is matched to a book here by ISBN first, then by title and author. A matched book lands on the shelf the export named (Want to read, Reading, Read, Did not finish). Your rating stays on the list for you; nothing is posted as a review.
Not matched yet
Rows we could not match are listed under Not matched yet, with the shelf they were meant for. You can search for the book by hand (the wider catalogue may have it: see Finding books) and shelve it yourself.
Removing an import
Remove takes the import off your list. The books already placed on your shelves stay where they are; nothing on a shelf is deleted by removing the import record.
